Getting Started
Credova provides APIs, SDKs and eCommerce plugins to accept payments, send payouts and manage transactions. Complete these steps once, then follow the guides for what you build.
Create an account
Create an account in the Credova Portal, or sign in to an existing account.
Get your API keys
Open API keys in the Portal and click Reveal to copy a key.
| Key | Where you use it | Keep it secret |
|---|---|---|
Publishable Key | In the browser, to load Credova Elements. | No |
Secret Key | On your server, to call the Credova API. | Yes |
Each account has Test and Production keys. Use your Test keys while you build, because they never move money. To limit what a key can do, create a restricted key. See API Keys for permissions.
Choose what you build
Every payment and payout starts from a payment method. Save the method first, then use it to take a payment or to send money out.
Payment Methods
Save a card, a bank account, Apple Pay or Google Pay. A saved payment method has an id that you use in payments and payouts.
| Payment method | How you save it | Start with |
|---|---|---|
| Card | In your web app with Credova Elements, or from your servers with the Direct API. | Save Cards |
| Bank account | In your web app with manual entry or instant verification, or from your servers with the Direct API. | Save Bank Accounts |
| Apple Pay | In your web app with Credova Elements. | Set Up Apple Pay |
| Google Pay | In your web app with Credova Elements. | Set Up Google Pay |
Credova Elements keeps card and bank account data off your servers. The Direct API sends it from your servers, so your organization must be PCI certified. On Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento or BigCommerce, the eCommerce plugin collects the payment method for you.
After you save a payment method, you can update the CVC of a card or manage your saved payment methods.
Payments
Create a payment with a saved payment method. Cards and bank accounts can also arrive in the payment request, so you do not have to save them first.
| Pay with | Start with |
|---|---|
| Card | Accept Card Payments |
| Bank account | Accept Bank Account Payments |
| Apple Pay | Accept Apple Pay |
| Google Pay | Accept Google Pay |
Every payment method creates the same payment, so the same options and follow-up guides apply. When you create the payment, you can authorize now and capture later, verify the card first, charge a card on file, or add 3D Secure with an iframe or a redirect.
After the payment:
Payouts
Send money to a saved card or bank account. Save the payment method first with Save Cards or Save Bank Accounts. A bank account can also arrive in the payout request, and so can a card if your organization is PCI certified.
| Pay out to | Start with |
|---|---|
| Card | Send Card Payouts |
| Bank account | Send Bank Account Payouts. Choose standard, same-day or instant. |
After the payout:
Marketplaces
Onboard sellers and move funds to and from them. Start with Onboard Sellers.
Go live
Test your integration with test cards, then work through the production checklist. Replace your Test keys with Production keys when you go live.
